Welcome to Usworth Colliery Primary School

About our School

Usworth Colliery Primary School is a mixed, community primary school for 4-11 year olds located in the Sulgrave area of Washington,Tyne and Wear.

At Usworth Colliery Primary School we are committed to delivering a high quality, inclusive curriculum with a strong emphasis on spiritual, moral, social and cultural teaching.

As a school we value each individual and strive to meet their particular needs, developing and nurturing their gifts and talents in recognition and celebration of their diversity.

We place high priority on the development of personal and social skills and citizenship, promoting and reinforcing the importance and benefits of very positive attitudes and behaviour. We have high expectations of pupils in all aspects of school life and are highly committed to promoting an 'I can' ethos where pupils demonstrate increasing confidence in their contributions, knowing they will be valued.

The care and welfare of our pupils is of paramount importance and we provide a safe, supportive and stimulating environment in which they can grow, learn, play, and have FUN!

Our close partnership with parents and carers ensures that any difficulties are quickly resolved. We highly value the contribution parents and carers make in many ways and we arrange many opportunities to share the work of our school with the local and wider community.

Ably supported by a highly capable and committed governing body, I am privileged to lead a highly skilled and motivated team who work very hard for the benefit of our pupils. There is a great sense of pride in our school and I hope our website will provide an insight into our work.

Our school is a special place, filled with special people.

We look forward to keeping you informed of the many exciting and innovative developments.
